Author's Note: The Hunger Games, the fight of the battle to their death. Some people believe that that is what our world could come to in the future. I sure hope not. Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games, describes everything vividly and shows the conflicts in this book. I chose to use this book for my conflict and resolution piece because it shows many conflicts and how Katniss and Peeta, the tributes, resolve their own problems.
In a battle to their death, Katniss and Peeta have to find a way to stay alive against the other twenty-two tributes. Katniss had many conflicts to face in The Hunger Games, but she ended up always finding a resolution to keep Peeta and herself alive. The Hunger Games is one of my favorite books, it has great detail and really keeps you reading the book. I found many conflicts in this book, but in my mind there were only a few that really stood out; Katniss got picked to go into the Hunger Games with 23 other tributes, only one tribute comes out, Katniss and Peeta had to face the Career Pack, President Snow did not like Katniss, and lastly, Peeta and Katniss had to pretend to be in love to keep themselves alive. The Career Pack is the tributes from District 1 and 2 have been training all their lives for this moment. They were the people who were predicted to win and who Katniss and Peeta had to fight to stay alive. Since, only one tribute comes out alive, Peeta and Katniss needed to find a way for them both to return to District 12.
Although, the conflicts seem difficult to face, Katniss and Peeta came up with the resolutions, that many just keep them alive. While, the war to the death was going on Peeta decided to join the Career Pack to save Katniss! Peeta knew that he might have risked his own life saving her, but he decided to join them anyway. An announcement came on, when it was down to eight people, saying that now two people can win if they are from the same district! Peeta and Katniss did it; they pretended to be in love and people wanted them to be in love forever! In the final three, it came down to Katniss, Peeta, and Cato. Since, Peeta and Katniss were still alive they teamed up to kill Cato. Together, they killed him! They were now the two winners, until a new announcement came on saying, "There will only be one winner!" Because of the announcement, Katniss and Peeta thought if they can't have both of us, why should they have one? Together, they ate poisonous berries, but they were stopped! In the end, Katniss and Peeta were the two victors! Peeta and Katniss were really smart people, so they came up with resolutions to save each other, and they did!
