The George Washington

Author's Note: In the piece, I wrote about what I would ask the founding fathers if I had a chance to meet them. I decided to write about this topic because it was our Patriot's Pen Essay topic. Every year we have a topic to write about for the Patriot's Pen Essay and this year it was that. I mainly focused on talking to George Washington.

Dear George Washington, I am writing this letter to you because I find you as such an interesting guy. I don’t know when you will get this letter but I will write it to you anyways. The only reason you might not get this letter is because you are dead, but I have some questions for you. My questions involve you as a founding father. I was really interested in why the founding fathers decided to create laws? Yes, they keep us safe and keep from many accidents happening. It is a good thing we created laws but who first chose to make them? I have a few more questions, too involving what it was like to be a Founding Father and how did you feel to be such an important person? In my opinion, you are one the most important peoplein the United States.

First off, hello there Mr. Washington. I would like to say it’s such an honor if you were to get this letter, because you are a founding father and the first president of the United States. I was wondering if you could tell me a little about the founding fathers. I have many questions about laws and why they were created. It seems almost as if it would be fun to be a founding father, but you probably think I’m crazy. The biggest questions I have involving laws would be, who came up with the idea to create the laws? I’m in shock knowing that someone could just invent something. I have always wanted to meet an inventor or at least have a conversation with them. You might be able to say that in a way we are having a conversation. Although you are an inventor and my sister isn’t you remind me of her. My sister, Laura, is smart, nice, weird, and kind which is what you seem to be, too. You guys both also stand up for what is right.

In addition to you being a founding father you were also famous for being the first president, having false teeth, and for chopping down the cherry tree. The cherry tree was one of your father’s most prized possessions, yet you cut it down. What brought you to do that? George, you are one of my favorite role models. You had the courage to start a government without anything even started. Whenever, I listen to someone say that, it really makes me want to help someone or do something for this country. You have taught me many things throughout your life.

Next, I would like you to know ever since you we have had forty-three other presidents. Some of the presidents have created new laws adding more to the first laws the founding father and you have created. Everything amazes me on how you guys established some of the laws we still use today; which was around 1614. Thankfully, you guys have chose to create laws or things could have been different. I would personally like to thank the founding fathers and you for everything you have done. In conclusion, throughout the years the United States has been founded you are one of the most important people.

Sincerely,

Michelle
