Author's Note: Would you want to go back into the Hunger Games? The Hunger Games is a place where 24 people from 12 Districts run around killing each other. Peeta and Katniss are the two main characters who are both from District 12. Their world turned around when they got picked for the games, again. I really couldn't relate to that, but I wrote this on how Katniss had effetcs on people and her thoughts in the book.
“I’m going back into the game?” pondered Katniss. “Will Peeta be going in with me?” Katniss had so many thoughts going through her until the day of the reaping. The day of the reaping this time was for the Quarter Quell. Gale was there watching to see which guy would be going in with her; Haymitch or Peeta? The Quarter Quell stands for the 75th Hunger Games and each 15 years there is a special games. The special Hunger Games was that the victors, the previous winners, had to go back in but only one boy and one girl. Most people would have bet on Katniss or Finnick winning because they are the most skilled. There is Peeta, though who is so sweet and kind that anyone could love him; he was the fan favorite. In Catching Fire Suzanne Collins, the author, really showed how Katniss should be the winner. Katniss is the one victor that should win, she has thoughts of a victor and really good effects on other people.
Since, the Capitol did not want her to win the games she decided to help save people. Peeta wanted to save Katniss, but Katniss wanted to save Peeta. She decided to help Peeta until it got down to the final three people in the games. At that time, she started to suffer from a trident, a spear-like object. Peeta is still fighting in the Quell with Johanna, a girl from District 4, and Chaff, a boy from District 1. Peeta and Katniss live in District 12 which is the poorest District. Even though Peeta and Katniss are from District 12, doesn’t mean they can’t win. Everyone truly loves them, except the Capitol. Katniss helped Peeta stay alive by finding him with Finnink, their ally. Finnick helped Peeta swim while Katniss either shot with an arrow or stabbed people away from them when he was ill.
Even though she might have saved people, I think it is more important to change people.Peeta, Finnink, Johanna, Wirees, Bettee, Haymitch, and many more came in contact with her and they turned different. Johanna, the only girl in the games that didn’t like Katniss, but they became friends. They may have fought sometimes, but truly in the end Johanna thought that Katniss should be the one to stay alive. Katniss did get hit by Johanna, but she did that to make it look like she was dead so the Careers, the best victors that have trained since they were young, would stay away from her. Once, Katniss got back up someone gouged her with a trident! She got up drowsy ans wounded, but managed to kill the fourth player. She did that so Peeta would only have to kill Johanna and Chaff.
Helping, save people was one of Katniss' priorities, she even helped save Johanna, once. Katniss has always wondered why would Johanna hate her and then save her? Katniss always questioned everything until she found out what it really meant. Due to all the thoughts she had, it turned out she found out who she was. At the end of the games, these thoughts came to a conclusion. Katniss helped save her allies by figuring out that when Betee, a smart elderly women, would say “Tick, Tock” which meant the arena was all a clock. It was a clock because at every hour, such as at twelve A.M and midnight a lightning storm would happen every day. If she never would have thought of that would Peeta still be able to fight in the Games.
Peeta not being able to fight in the Games, would ruin Katniss’ promise to Haymitch, her mentor, that she wanted to keep Peeta alive. She always had to remember to keep the promise silent until Peeta found out that Katniss wanted to save him! Her thoughts ran through her mind almost every minute of every day. That was Katniss’ way of hiding what she wanted to do. When Katniss was suffering she remembered her promise to Haymitch, that she wanted to keep her soul mate or Peeta alive. The one victor that should win is Katniss.
